Fall Minimony at Starry Night Cafe

filed under:

This one was pretty special little micro wedding for me. I met the bride’s mother years before to help her with a fresh professional headshot. A few years later Mom asked me to photograph her son’s senior portraits and soon after, the biggest honor, her daughter’s wedding.

The weather wasn’t perfect. Timing was a little off. Keys got locked in cars. But none of that mattered. I think I may have been the only one that really noticed.

Mom still tied her daughter’s wedding dress, Dad shared wishes and blessings for their future, everyone danced in the rain, laughter filled the back room at Starry Night Cafe. Glasses clinked. Plates were shared. The dreary day outside only made the inside feel warmer, richer, more alive. There’s something about fall in Vermont, especially on days like this, that invites intimacy. The clouds, the rain, the early dusk… they pull people closer together.

This is the magic of a Vermont small wedding in the fall. It’s cozy. It’s real. It’s choosing warmth over weather, connection over perfection, and letting a dreary day become the most beautiful one of all.
